Energy storage flywheel

Flywheel energy storage technology has the characteristics of high energy storage density, high specific power, fast charging and discharging speed, and long service life.  To improve the energy storage density of the flywheel, it is usually necessary to increase the flywheel speed, but this will also increase the centrifugal stress of the flywheel.  When centrifugal stress approaches the strength limit of the material, the flywheel may fail.  Carbon fiber composite materials can withstand significant centrifugal stress due to their high strength.

The main functions of carbon fiber are twofold: firstly, it effectively reduces the rotor temperature, lowers the temperature rise caused by stator heat conduction, reduces the risk of demagnetization of magnetic steel and centrifugal deformation at high speeds;  The second is to increase the rotor magnetic flux, which helps to improve the motor’s speed, power output, and efficiency under the same input current.
